DURBAN -Travellers using the N3 highway through KwaZulu-Natal have been urged to exercise caution as snow hits parts of the province.
The highway remains open despite the adverse weather conditions.
“The entirety of the N3 toll route is a concern,” said Thania Dhoogra, chief operating officer of N3 Toll Concession.
She said high-lying areas such as Van Reenen were more susceptible to the weather, while very cold conditions had also been reported between Balgowan and Nottingham Road.
Dhoogra said restrictions, including short-duration closures, had been put in place because of the inclement weather.
“There are lanes open in each direction for travel in the affected areas,” she said.
Meanwhile, travellers are continuing to use Barkly Pass in the Eastern Cape, although the area is bracing for further snowfall that could disrupt traffic.
Barkly Pass is among the areas to have been hit hard by a cold front sweeping across the country.
