JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa says the inaugural National Convention will go ahead on Friday as planned.
This is despite calls from seven legacy foundations to postpone the gathering.
They include the Thabo Mbeki, Steve Biko, Chief Albert Luthuli, Oliver and Adelaide Tambo, and Desmond and Leah Tutu Foundations.
WATCH: Foundations say government is rushing as they pull out of National Dialogue
They have withdrawn over concerns about poor planning and a rushed timeline.
The group is calling for a postponement to allow for better preparation and greater transparency.
The convention is aimed at setting the agenda for the broader National Dialogue.
The foundations insist the dialogue must be citizen-led, saying it cannot be government-led.
