OUDTSHOORN - The President will lead Heritage Day celebrations at Bongolethu Sport Stadium in Oudtshoorn in the Western Cape.
The national event was originally planned for KwaZulu-Natal alongside uMkhosi weLembe, in honour of Zulu King Shaka.
But after discussions with King Misuzulu kaZwelithini and KZN officials, they decided to hold the two events separately.
The national celebration was then moved to the Western Cape, first to George and later to Oudtshoorn.
The Western Cape government criticised the last-minute changes, saying a national event should be properly planned.
Provincial Cultural Affairs MEC, Ricardo Mackenzie, said affected municipalities were not properly consulted.
