JOHANNESBURG - Government is confident of the safety and security of the historic G20 Summit in Johannesburg.
Even the army is on stand-by.
World leaders and delegates will converge on Nasrec this weekend.
The National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure (NATJOINTS) said the areas will be on lockdown until the gathering is over.
It's given the update on safety measures.
"With the Summit in a few days, and with the G20 social summit currently taking place, residents in and around Gauteng may have noted heightened police operations and visibility," members of NATJOINTS said at a media briefing.
"This indeed illustrates our state of readiness to ensure that as the government prepares to welcome Heads of States, Ministers and leaders from various countries from across the world, this happens in a safe and secure environment with minimal to no incidents of instability and criminality."
But those who wish to protest during the Summit have been warned to do so within the confines of the law.
