NDPP orders withdrawal of Dumisani Khumalo's charges

JOHANNESBURG - National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP) Andy Mothibi has ordered the withdrawal of charges against Crime Intelligence head, Lieutenant-General Dumisani Khumalo and six others.

The decision follows representations made by the group and an Investigating Directorate Against Corruption memorandum.

Mothibi says the investigation is yet to be finalised.

The matter may not be re-enrolled without his express written approval.

Khumalo and his co-accused faced fraud and corruption charges.

That's over the appointment of Brigadier Dineo Mokwele.

Last week, the now-former IDAC head Andrea Johnson conceded that Mokwele was, in fact, qualified for the role in question.

A previous witness also admitted that the industrial engineer was charged for a future crime.
