JOHANNESBURG - Long queues are expected at filling stations on Tuesday night as steep fuel price increases take effect at midnight.
Petrol goes up by R3.27 per litre, while diesel will cost R5.27.
The spike is being driven by higher global oil prices and a weaker rand, alongside adjustments to the levy.

Although government has extended fuel tax relief to cushion the impact, this hike adds to pressure on already struggling households
One motorist who is a landscaper, queuing to fill up his tank at a petrol station in Hyde Park, said this increase weighs heavily on him.
"This is devastating because I use my care for business. It's not as if I drive to work and park my car. It affects your logistics completely, you have to reorgnise you whole life," he said.
For the motorists, he said it's even worse, given that he uses delivery cars as well.
"You are forced to plan accordingly. No more random trips," he added.
Another motorist said this hike has caused her to dig deeper into already stretched pockets.
She has managed to fill up at least R400 and hopes that it will carry her for the next two weeks.
