NPA awaits full report after prosecutor's no-show in Joe 'Ferrari' Sibanyoni case

JOHANNESBURG - The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) says it is waiting for a full report from the Director of Public Prosecution in Mpumalanga.

This follows the dramatic twist in the Joe “Ferrari” Sibanyoni and three co-accused extortion and money-laundering case.

A warrant of arrest has been issued after state prosecutor Mkhuseli Ntaba was a no-show at the Kwaaggafontein Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

It's an absence that NPA spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago has described as "something fishy”, adding that authorities are now working to establish what exactly happened.

"It is alleged that the prosecutor had indicated that he was not going to be available because he had to deal with another matter which is a prosecutorial matter.

"Those are the things we are going to have to get out of this report from the DPP in Mpumalanga.

"But also, the NDPP has requested the transcripts for what transpired on Friday as well as on Monday so that we understand who is to blame for this matter," he said.

To date, the case against Sibanyoni and three other co-accused has been struck off the roll.
