NPA to withdraw charges against Fannie Masemola

JOHANNESBURG - National Director of Public Prosecution (NDPP) Andy Mothibi has ordered the withdrawal of charges against Fannie Masemola.

This comes after a review of the charges found that there were no reasonable prospects of a successful prosecution against Masemola.

The suspended National Police Commissioner was charged with contravening the Public Finance Management Act in connection with the controversial R228-million Medicare24 tender.

The NPA confirmed that arrangements will now be made for Masemola to appear in court for the purpose of withdrawing the case against him.

“The process of assessing and reviewing all the cases at IDAC will continue as part of the IDAC Reset Programme," the NPA said.
