JOHANNESBURG - The National Student Financial Aid Scheme has responded to a viral social media post about a large student payment.
The scheme said claims that a student received more than R630,000 are untrue.
According to NSFAS, the image circulating online appears to be manipulated and does not match its payment records.

The scheme also clarified that it does not pay large lump sums directly to students.
Funds are transferred to institutions, which then distribute allowances in line with funding rules.
The scheme says it is reviewing the matter and has cautioned against the spread of unverified information.
