NSFAS | Students left in financial limbo

JOHANNESBURG - Some university students have been unable to enrol for the second semester due to the National Student Financial Aid Scheme's annual financial crisis.

The scheme has disclosed a budget shortfall of R10.6-billion for this academic year.

Students whose registration information was received after the deadline of 31 March are also in limbo.

NSFAS spokesperson Ishmael Mnisi said the shortfall is informed by a number of reasons, including more students who are relying on NSFAS funding.
