One dead as severe storms batter KZN South Coast

DURBAN - At least one person has died in extreme weather in Margate on the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal.

Disruptive downpours triggered severe flooding in many areas of that region.

Disaster management and emergency teams remain on high alert.

Premier Thami Ntuli will visit Margate to assess the damage.

He says the storm disrupted businesses and the local economy.

Emergency teams will remain stationed in the area until weather conditions subside.

The weather service has issued a Yellow Level 4 warning for thunderstorms in the west of the province.

It's also issued warnings for Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Free State, the North West, and the Northern Cape.
