JOHANNESBURG - Over 13,000 wanted suspects have been arrested during a week-long Operation Shanela blitz nationwide.
Police crime-fighting initiatives included stop and search operations.
A total of 2,052 wanted suspects were taken into custody for murder, attempted murder, rape, house and business robberies.
Over 500 zama zamas were nabbed at an abandoned mineshaft in Orkney, North West.
That’s after police cut off all access to food, water, and other supplies to the illegal miners.
Police say they will continue these operations to ensure safety for all in the country.
