MERAFONG - Khutsong residents are demanding answers on the almost R2-million spent on securing manholes.
They are outraged over the death of a two-year-old boy who drowned in an open manhole.
The community says it was a needless death as the municipality had been warned about the problem.
A culpable homicide case has been opened, and the community is demanding justice.
Community activist Abie Malefo said it's not the first incident.
"These matters were raised with the municipality," he said.
"It clearly shows that they were not interested in making some interventions."
