Parliament erupts after Lamola claims Zuma 'sold' South Africans to Russia

CAPE TOWN - Chaos erupted in Parliament on Wednesday when International Relations Minister and ANC MP Ronald Lamola accused former president Jacob Zuma of selling citizens to Russia.

He was referring to 17 South Africans recruited to fight in the Russian war with Ukraine.

Lamola says President Cyril Ramaphosa has spoken to Vladimir Putin to facilitate their return home.

“What kind of father sells his own children?” Lamola asked during the SONA debate on Wednesday.

He also confirmed that the 17 were on their way back to South Africa.

However, Lamola's utterances on Zuma were met with contempt from MK Party MPs who accused him of casting aspersions.
