Parliament's SAPS Ad Hoc Committee granted extension to finalise work again

JOHANNESBURG - The National Assembly has agreed extend the reporting deadline of the Ad Hoc Committee to 31 March 2026.

This comes as the committee established to investigate allegations made by KZN Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi struggles to conclude its work before it provides a report to the House.

The committee says it still needs to engage outstanding witnesses before concluding its work.

Additionally, Parliamentary programmes such as the State of the Nation Address and related debates have been delayed on days set out for the hearings.

As a result, there was insufficient time to complete evidence-gathering.

This is the third time the deadline goalpost has been moved.

The committee was initially given until the end of October 2025 to finalise its work, but subsequently the deadline was moved to 28 November 2025 and again to 20 February 2026.
