CAPE TOWN - The Ad Hoc Committee probing corruption and political interference claims in the criminal justice system begins in-person deliberations on its final report.
Members of Parliament met on Thursday for an update, which includes a letter from suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu’s lawyers.
In it, Mchunu takes issue with the evidence leader allegedly making findings across the Committee’s entire scope of the terms of reference.
He argues the terms of reference require the Committee to come up with its own findings. But Parliament’s legal team says the Committee is currently dealing with the draft overview.
The final report is yet to be authored and Speaker Thoko Didiza has also been asked to intervene where the Ad Hoc Committee requires access to classified documentation.
