IN PICS: South Africa's security gears up for G20 Summit

JOHANNESBURG - We are just a few days away from the G20 Leaders' Summit in Johannesburg.

The security cluster has declared its full readiness to secure the delegates from around the world and keep them safe.

The government is happy with the safety and security preparations for the G20 Leaders’ Summit.

The Johannesburg Summit gets underway in three days at the Nasrec Expo Centre.

The first summit was held in 1999.

This year will be the first time the world leaders will meet on African soil.

The G20 is made up of the twenty countries that have the most advanced economies.

Together, they represent about 85% of the global GDP.

Around the City of Johannesburg, potholes are being filled.

Trees are being trimmed and verges cut.

With so many leaders and support staff expected in the coming days, South Africa is setting out to impress and security will be tight.

Police promise a strong presence on the ground to keep thousands of delegates and visitors safe.
