CAPE TOWN - The SAPS Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) has arrested a mayor, a municipal manager and a Chief Financial Officer of a municipality in the Western Cape.
This is according to police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe, who confirmed in a statement on Thursday afternoon.
She said the arrest is in connection with alleged kickbacks from a businessman in exchange for a continued security services contract at a municipality in the Southern Coast.
Mathe said it is alleged that the businessman had already paid hundreds of thousands of rands out of fear that his security services contract would be terminated.
The three face charges of corruption and are due in court on Monday.
