Police hunt gunmen after triple killing in Mitchells Plain

CAPE TOWN - Three people, including a nine-year-old boy, were killed in a shooting in Mitchells Plain on Tuesday night.

Two men, aged 51 and 36, were wounded and taken to hospital for urgent care.

Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects.

Preliminary reports indicate that four unidentified gunmen opened fire on the property before storming into the house and shooting the victims.

Detectives from the Anti-Gang Unit have been assigned to the case and are following several strong leads as they work to track down those responsible.

Western Cape Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekile condemned the attack and reaffirmed SAPS’ commitment to tackling gang violence.

“This cowardly and senseless act will not go unanswered… We will tighten the net around these criminal elements and ensure that every individual involved is brought before the law,” he said.

Patekile also issued a stern warning to gang members: “Your days of terror are numbered. We are coming, and you will face the full might of the law.”
