Police open culpable homicide case after oThongathi bus crash

OTHONGATHI - Police in KwaZulu-Natal have opened a case of culpable homicide following Tuesday’s deadly bus accident in oThongathi, north of Durban.

Three people were killed, and 15 others injured when a bus plunged off a 50-metre bridge.

Local residents say several complaints were raised with the bus company earlier this year about the condition of the bus.

Some of the affected households that have lost breadwinners want someone to be held accountable.

However, the owner of Reddy’s Coach Tours insists the vehicle was roadworthy.

Nivashen Reddy passed his condolences to the families, adding that he supports the Department of Transport’s investigation into the accident.
