DURBAN - Durban Metro Police, supported by other law enforcement agencies, launched an early morning operation targeting a hijacked building in the CBD on Monday.
Authorities believe the property, near the Warwick Triangle, is being used as a hub for criminal activity, including drug dealing.
The raid forms part of a broader crackdown on illegal occupations and efforts to restore order in the city.
Officers found multiple makeshift structures inside the building. Police estimate that about 100 people are living there and say illegal taverns are also operating on the premises.
No arrests had been made yet, but police said several people had been taken in for questioning.
