PRETORIA - Around half a million private security officers are expected to be working alongside the police on 30 June.
Law enforcement officials are leaving nothing to chance amid the planned demonstrations calling for the deportation of undocumented foreign nationals. An unofficial deadline of 30 June as been set.
Authorities said lessons from the deadly July 2021 unrest have informed their planning.
It is hoped that joint efforts by law enforcement and the private security sector will help prevent a similar tragedy.
Security capacity on both land and in the air will also be strengthened.
Meanwhile, PSiRA said all private security companies will need to comply with its regulations, amid growing concerns that some operators may be illegal or employing undocumented foreign nationals.
