Probe after discovery of five bodies at open-cast mine

JOHANNESBURG - Police have launched an investigation into the deaths of five men found with gunshot wounds.

The bodies were discovered at an open-cast mine in Tlhatlaganyane Village, near Sun City.

It's believed the killings are linked to rival illegal mining operations.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone said they are trying to contact the families of the deceased.

"We don't want to speculate, but we also can't rule out the possibility that this could be linked to illegal mining operations in the area," he said.
