Proceedings at Senzo Meyiwa murder trial hit

PRETORIA - The evidence of the man police claim helped crack the Senzo Meyiwa murder case has hit yet another snag.

This alleged hit coordinator, Fisokuhle Ntuli, again refused to enter the courtroom, claiming torture and demanding medical attention.

Ntuli later arrived, dressed in prison clothing, claiming he'd been assaulted by prison officials and barred from calling his lawyer.

But while the state proposed continuing in Ntuli’s absence, the defence pushed for a postponement.

Absalom Zungu senior, the father of key state witness Constable Sizwe Zungu, has denied ever making a 2019 statement to police linking two of the accused, Muzi Sibiya and Bongani Ntanzi, to the crime.

His evidence-in-chief is scheduled to continue on Friday.
