GEORGE - It’s been over a year since the George building collapse claimed 34 lives and left 28 others seriously injured.
Now, families affected may finally get some answers.
Public Works Minister Dean Macpherson is meeting them to share the findings of a long-awaited investigation.

"The engagement was deeply emotional; it was hard to listen to the protracted pain and suffering that so many family members continue to deal with today," the minister said.
"It was also an important step in their journey of mourning and healing for the families."
The probe, led by the Engineering Council of SA, points to systemic failures and safety lapses.

Macpherson said the investigation confirmed that serious safety concerns were raised well before the collapse took place.
"Workers noticed cracks in columns, strange vibrations in the concrete slabs and even visible holes in the walls in the basement," he said.
