JOHANNESBURG - The Johannesburg High Court is meant to be a symbol of justice, but its deteriorating condition is raising concern about access to that very justice.
Citizen-led movement Jozi My Jozi is spearheading a R360-million restoration project, calling on government and the private sector to help revive the building.
Jozi My Jozi CEO Innocent Mabusela said work needs to be done.
"The reality is that there is a lot of work to be done at the court and some of the work includes refurbishment of courtrooms, the interview rooms for sensitive cases.
“We need to focus on security systems, lifts, ablution facilities and things like electrical systems. So, for us, if there are any organisations out there that are operating within those sectors that I have mentioned, they can come on board to provide that assistance,” Mabusela said.
