JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa has accepted a request by Independent Directorate Against Corruption (Idac) head Andrea Johnson to vacate office with immediate effect.
Johnson requested to leave office over the weekend.
The President's decision follows a recommendation by Justice and Constitutional Development Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi, supported by National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP) Andy Mothibi, that the request be granted.
Johnson submitted her request for an immediate departure to both the NDPP and the President.
In a statement on Monday, Ramaphosa thanked Johnson for her years of service to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) and as head of Idac.
"The President assures the leadership and staff of the NPA of government's unwavering support for its work in the fight against crime and corruption," the Presidency said.
