Ramaphosa to address the nation at 4PM amid SAPS turmoil

PRETORIA – President Cyril Ramaphosa will on Thursday address the nation amid the ongoing turmoil in the South African Police Service.

He will be accompanied by acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia. 

The address will take place at 16:00.

It comes as earlier this week, National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola made brief appearance at the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court.

The police boss faces four counts of violating the Public Finance Management Act in connection with the controversial R360-million tender awarded to Vusimuzi 'Cat' Matlala.

The matter was postponed to 13 May where Masemola will join Matlala and 12 other police officers in the dock.
