Ramaphosa arrives in India ahead of BRICS Summit

NEW DELHI - President Cyril Ramaphosa has arrived in New Delhi, India, ahead of the 18th BRICS Summit.

The two-day summit begins on Saturday and brings together leaders from the 11 BRICS member states for high-level talks on some of the key challenges facing the global economy and international community.

The wars in Ukraine and the Middle East are expected to feature prominently on the agenda, alongside discussions on trade and concerns over shortages in oil supply.

Ramaphosa is expected to raise South Africa’s economic and diplomatic priorities. 

He is also expected to deliver remarks at the BRICS Business Forum, where economic cooperation, investment and trade opportunities are likely to be among the key areas of focus.

He will further participate in discussions on global governance and the reform of multilateral institutions, as BRICS members push for changes to international systems and greater representation for emerging economies.
