Ramaphosa stands firm as Trump rants over SA's place at 2026 G20

JOHANNESBURG - US President Donald Trump is throwing another tantrum about South Africa.

And, this time, President Cyril Ramaphosa is not taking it lying down.

Trump posted on social media that South Africa will not be invited to the G20 Summit in Miami next year.

He blames this on the spat over the handover of the Presidency and disinformation about white genocide.

Trump says South Africa has proven not to be a worthy country of membership anywhere.

This is despite the wide consensus by world leaders of a successful summit in Johannesburg.

President Ramaphosa has hit back, saying South Africa will not be insulted.

He reminded Trump that the country is a full member of the G20 at the behest of all other members.

Ramaphosa says South Africa will continue as a full, active and constructive member of the group.
