JOHANNESBURG - Joburg Water and Rand Water's insufficient pumping capacity has left the municipal supplier's Newtown offices, residents, and inner-city government departments high and dry.
Even as systems slowly return to normal after Rand Water's maintenance earlier this week, the crippling shortcomings continue to severely impact water supply across the city.
The water interruptions in the inner city are due to pumping problems at Rand Water’s Zwartkopjies system.

That issue is affecting Joburg Water’s Yeoville Reservoir, resulting in the closure of the court and other government entities in the CBD. Ironically, Joburg Water, located in Newtown, has not been spared.
Joburg Water cautions that while the system should be back online by the weekend, localised water supply issues may remain in place.
