JOHANNESBURG - The second leg of Rand Water’s infrastructure maintenance has been put on hold for now.
The utility says this is due to pipeline scouring issues.
Over the past week, a number of Johannesburg suburbs have experienced little to no water supply.
There were also serious delays in restoration, particularly in Midrand.
Jonathan Erasmus, WaterCAN Communications Manager, said communication is a big issue.
"The primary thing is they cannot guarantee that they'll be done with the job before Christmas," he said.
"If there is one thing that will infuriate those living in Johannesburg is not having water on Christmas Day."
