NEW YORK - South Africa is strengthening its voice on the global stage after securing re-election to the United Nations Human Rights Council for the 2026 to 2028 term.
The country is a founding member of the Council and is returning at a symbolic time as the nation marks 30 years of its Constitution.
Parliament’s International Relations Committee has welcomed the move, describing it as a vote of confidence in an ongoing role to promote human rights, peace and international law.
Authorities say the appointment reinforces South Africa's commitment to multilateral diplomacy.
