JOHANNESBURG - Heavy thunderstorms and hail is battering the KZN midlands region.
The South African Weather Service has issued severe weather warnings for several parts of the country.
Seven provinces are bracing for severe thunderstorms, hail, damaging winds and flooding.
In Gauteng, emergency services are on high alert following days of rain.
At the same time, two more sluice gates have been closed at the Vaal Dam while four remain open.
Water levels at the Bloemhof Dam, however, continue to rise.
Officials are appealing to anyone living near rivers to remain vigilant.
