Samwu raise concerns over unpaid salaries and benefits

PRETORIA - Hundreds of the South African Municipal Workers’ Union (Samwu) members are expected to march in Pretoria.

They are calling for urgent action to protect workers' rights, strengthen collective bargaining and safeguard public services.

The union says chronic underfunding, ageing infrastructure, corruption and delayed salaries have weakened municipalities and water boards.

Samwu argues that these challenges have eroded service delivery and increased the burden on municipal workers who remain on the frontline of serving communities.
