PRETORIA - Ballistics analyst Laurence Makgotloe returned to the Pretoria Magistrate Court in his fight for bail on Tuesday.
His legal team are arguing that he has made honest errors in his findings, which is now a key sticking point at the Madlanga Commission.
Makgotloe stands accused of tampering with ballistics reports in murder cases.
He faces two counts of accessory to murder after the fact and one charge of possession of unlicensed ammunition.
One of the murders in which he allegedly bungled, is that of Vereeniging engineer, Armand Swart. Swart was assassinated in a case of mistaken identity.
While testifying at the Mandlang Commission, Makgotloe denied informing investigating officers of any links between ballistics, the Swart case and other high-profile cases.
Makgotloe's team has put forward that he is a first time officer and therefore, not a threat.
