JOHANNESBURG - Over a million applications have been received for 5,500 police recruit spots.
This means successful candidates are in for a tough selection process.
This year's group has seen more women applying to become police officers than men.

Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said they will follow a rigorous process to ensure that they select the best candidates.
"We unfortunately only have space for 5,500 applicants," she said.
"In the past three years, we've been able to train more than 30,000 officers."
