DURBAN - Investigators must be given space to do their work at the site of the collapsed Verulam temple.
That's according to KZN Public Works and Infrastructure MEC Martin Meyer.
Minister Dean Macpherson has asked for the team that investigated the George building collapse to look into the temple collapse.
"The site has now been handed over to SAPS, making it an active crime scene under investigation by SAPS and other agencies," Meyer said.

"Preliminary reports revealed serious problems with the columns and cement. The building site was illegal, with no plans approved.
"Applications in 2022 and 2023 were denied by the city, but building unfortunately continued. McPherson has also written to the police," he said.
"The same investigators who handled the George building collapse are now investigating Verulam. They have the necessary expertise, and we must give them space to do their work."
