PRETORIA - President Cyril Ramaphosa has set up a commission of inquiry into the corruption allegations against Police Minister Senzo Mchunu and other top SAPS officials.
Ramaphosa says this investigation will look into organised crime’s alleged infiltration of law enforcement, both past and present.
He has placed Mchunu on leave of absence until these investigations are over.
Law professor Firoz Cachalia has been appointed as interim police minister.
"The allegations call for an urgent and comprehensive investigation," the president said.
