JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa has officially appointed a Judicial Commission of Inquiry to look into allegations of interference in the criminal justice system.
In a government gazette, Ramaphosa announced the terms of reference and the appointment of Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga to lead the inquiry.

This follows allegations made by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi that parts of the criminal justice system have been infiltrated by criminal elements.
Professor Firoz Cachalia was appointed Acting Police Minister after Senzo Mchunu was placed on special leave.
