Search and rescue under way in Mpumalanga for missing aircraft

JOHANNESBURG - Search and rescue teams are racing against time to locate a light aircraft that went missing on the way to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport.

The plane took off from King Mswati III International Airport in eSwatini and was due to land just before 2pm, but never arrived.

eSwatini air traffic controllers lost contact mid-flight and no further communication has been received.

Rescue efforts are underway, with helicopters and ground teams deployed to an area
near Barberton.
