Second witness expected to testify in Steve Biko inquest

KUGOMPO CITY - The second witness in the inquest into the 1977 death of Steve Biko is expected to testify on Monday.

Monde Mditshwa is expected to tell the court how he witnessed the anti-apartheid activist being assaulted by members of the security branch.

His testimony follows that of investigating officer Fundiswa Dingiswayo.

Dingiswayo told the court that her investigation into Biko’s death was hampered by missing documents dating back nearly 50 years.

Biko died in police custody 49 years ago.

No one has been held responsible for his death.
