PRETORIA - Security has been tightened ahead of Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala’s appearance before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
Media access is tightly controlled at the Brigitte Mabandla Justice College, with accreditation checks, equipment screenings, and restricted movement.
The commission confirms Matlala will appear, but reports suggest his lawyers may seek to postpone his testimony.
Commission spokesperson Jeremy Michaels has declined to comment.
Matlala stands trial next week for the attempted murder of his former girlfriend, Tebogo Thobejane.
His appearance follows his decision to reject a plea deal with the state.
The commission is probing allegations of corruption, organised crime, and political influence, including claims tied to the SAPS Medicare24 tender and alleged criminal networks in state institutions.
