Severe conditions forecast across SA

JOHANNESBURG - The South African Weather Service has warned of extreme conditions and widespread flooding in many parts of the country.

Level 6 and 8 warnings are in place in the Western Cape, Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.

Disaster teams are on high alert.

In the North West, a 12-year-old girl has been swept away by flash floods in Taung.

It's been a week of disaster for the province, with floods causing widespread destruction, collapsing bridges and cutting off several waterlogged villages.

Some main roads, like the N14 between Vryburg and Kuruman have been closed to traffic for days.

These severe conditions are expected to last for several days.
