JOHANNESBURG - Lieutenant-General Shadrack Sibiya, the deputy national commissioner for crime detection, has been asked to take a leave of absence.
This follows KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi's explosive revelations.
He accused Sibiya, Police Minister Senzo Mchunu, and other high-ranking officials of political interference and corruption.
Sibiya has denied these claims.
National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza tasked the Police, Justice and Intelligence Committees to look into the allegations.
The committees are expected to finalise the framework this week.
