JOHANNESBURG - Suspended deputy national commissioner for Crime Detection Shadrack Sibiya is back in court on Tuesday for a formal bail application.
The 59-year-old faces five charges including rape, trafficking in persons and the sexual grooming of a child.
According to the charge sheet, Sibiya took a woman and her friends to a strip club and a hotel in Sandton in May 2026.

He allegedly plied them with liquor and raped the 18-year-old victim while she was unconscious.
He is also accused of coercing a 16-year-old girl into sending him explicit videos of herself.
Sibiya has been remanded into custody at Kgosi Mampuru prison.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago previously said the state intends to oppose bail.
