Shoprite death | Heated protests after cold room death

HEIDELBERG - There is outrage over the death of a 33-year-old Gauteng man in a Shoprite cold storage room.

Bandile Shabalala was allegedly locked in the fridge after being accused of stealing a chocolate.

An angry mob gathered outside the store in Ratanda Mall in Heidelberg, demanding answers.

Residents are adamant it will not be allowed to operate until those responsible are held to account.

Shoprite has extended its condolences to the family and says they'll await the outcome of a police investigation before taking the necessary steps.
