Sibiya faces disciplinary hearing over Madlanga Commission allegations

JOHANNESBURG - Deputy National Commissioner for Crime Detection Shadrack Sibiya is set to face a disciplinary hearing over allegations that emerged during the Madlanga Commission.

Sibiya has been accused of having links to figures in the criminal underworld.

The Madlanga Commission previously recommended that disciplinary action be taken against Sibiya, as well as another police officer, Sergeant Fannie Nkosi.

Sibiya is currently behind bars and faces six criminal charges, including rape, sexual grooming of a minor, human trafficking and the negligent handling of a firearm.

His legal team has been seeking to have the disciplinary proceedings, scheduled for Monday, postponed.
