JOHANNESBURG - Sizekhaya Holdings has been awarded the National Lottery and Sports Pool Licence.
Sizekhaya replaces Ithuba Holdings, which has managed the Lottery since 2015.
Ithuba’s current licence expires at the end of May.
A total of eight companies were in the running for the lucrative multi-billion-rand deal.

Initially, Trade, Industry and Competition Minister, Parks Tau, intended to issue a temporary one-year licence.
But one of the bidders challenged the decision in court and argued that only Ithuba’s sister company had the necessary infrastructure to qualify.
The North Gauteng High Court sided with the applicant ordering Tau to announce a new licence holder by 28 May.
Sizekhaya has been granted an eight-year licence, but it’s unclear when the company will take over operations.
