JOHANNESBURG – Monday marks three years since the Marshalltown building fire that claimed 76 lives.
The remains of several bodies are still unidentified.
Survivors of the blaze will hold an event on Sunday in Johannesburg to remember the victims.
Fire gutted the hijacked five-story Usindiso building on 31 August 2023.
This month, the state reopened its case against Sithembiso Mdlalose.
He’s accused of starting the fire to conceal a murder and faces 76 counts of murder, attempted murder, arson and defeating the ends of justice.
Mdlalose implicated himself during the commission of inquiry but later withdrew his statement.
